SPECIAL TOPIC: NEBUCHADNEZZAR

This is literally "Nebuchadressar." It is difficult to translate a foreign name into a new language.

This Neo-Babylonian king's name was "Nabu-Kudurri-usur," which may mean

1. "Nebo, protect the boundary"
2. "Nebo, watch over my heir (i.e. eldest son)"
3. "Nebo, protect the crown"
4. "Nebo, protect against misfortune"

The OT spells the name in three ways.

1. נבוכדנצר
2. נבוכדנאצר
3. נבוכדרער
