Kir (BDB 885 III) may refer to

a part of Mesopotamia near Elam (cf. Isa. 21:2 and 22:6)
a word which means "walls" (BDB 885 I, KB 1099) and stands for Nineveh (Kir means "city")
a river, Kur, in northern Armenia
a mountain range (el-Kaiyara) forming the northern boundary of Syria (cf. Anchor Bible Dictionary, vol. 4, p. 83)
ABD, vol. 4, p., 83, mentions that the LXX and Vulgate connect it to Libya Cyrene, 2 Kgs. 16:9
The LXX in Amos 9:7, translates it as "the deep" (or "pit"), (derogatory sarcasm)
ABD, vol. 4, p. 83, suggests the MT is a textual error for an Arabic term referring to "oases" in North Arabia
